| I like what DCB wrote in his post about Morgan dollars: about just liking the look and feel of them, regardless of their value. It reminded me of why I first got into coin collecting as a kid. I loved holding a coin in my hand and thinking about all the years it's seen. All the hands that have held it. All the history. Now that I think about it, it's the same reason I've gotten into fossil collecting more recently. |

I also am interested in fossil collecting. And I have here a Roman coin from Nero's reign, which was less than a hundred dollars. Just holding this coin makes me wonder who used this in Ancient Rome and how many ancient Romans used this SAME coin to buy this or that in the Eternal City. That is a piece of history and it is history come alive. Some think history is boring but it sure wasn't when it was happening. _________________ dcb188 |
