I am trying to locate the name of an old WWII war movie that was a favorite of mine as a teen. It was set on some south pacific island and involved the American-Japanese conflict. The only distinctive thing I can offer about the movie was that a small army of American soldiers spent a good part of the film trying to get away from a large force of Japanese soldiers. The climax of the movie finds the American soldiers arriving at a village and setting up a last-line barricade (sand bags, etc...) against the Japanese. When the Japanese get there, they just come in wave after wave, trying to reach the American line of defense across an open area from the jungle. Just when it appears they are going to succeed, a huge American landing of forces comes inland from the beach and wipes out the remaining Japanese forces. I had thought that this movie was possibly the Frank Sinatra classic "Never So few", but it is not. I would so much appreciate any leads on the title of this great war classic.
